Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters
Founded in Bellflower, CA in 2007, The Boxmasters is an American country rock/rockabilly band made up of Billy Bob Thornton (vocals and drums), J.D. Andrew (rhythm guitar, bass and vocals), and Teddy Andreadis (keyboards). Before the birth of The Boxmasters, frontman Thornton had played in two cover bands, worked as a roadie and released four solo albums. In the band’s early days, it played several live shows in California and Mexico. In 2009, The Boxmasters played at South by Southwest in Austin, TX. The band has covered other famous bands including: The Beatles, The Who and The Rolling Stones in its own unique style. The Boxmasters also plays original songs, mostly written or co-written by Thornton, based on the "white trash" figures he had seen in his Arkansas childhood. Billy Bob Thornton has said, “I never intended to become a movie star, it happened accidentally. Music is what I love.”
